brush, Try/On Life Community Farm
(john) brush grew up in and among the virtual environments of the emergent computing communities: from BASIC programming and BBSes in the 80s through the heydey of Usenet and MUDs (MUSHes, MOOs, and associated text-based online societies) and then the increasingly user-friendly, and so commodified, graphical engagement of the web. a self-taught programmer in his youth with computer science experience at university, brush has experience with C, PHP, SQL, and other programming environments and has participated in a variety of open source projects.
brush roots his political activism in the tangible experience that co-created and intentional community works. he has traveled the community tour, with special affection for sandhill and dancing rabbit in missouri. he is currently an organizer with (and co-founder of) try/on life community farm, a sustainability education and demonstration center in portland associated with a 16-person intentional community.Raines Cohen, Berkeley Cohousing, Swan's Market Cohousing, FIC Board, Cohousing Assoc. of US Board
Awaiting Bio
Fred Lanphear, Songaia, NICA Board Member, FIC Board
I have a basic understanding of the internet and its potential and I am open to learn. I have some experience in formatting newsletters and enjoy rudimentary graphic design.
I live at Songaia Cohousing Community and have lived in intentional communities since 1970. My early communal experience was with the Order Ecumenical/Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA), which was an income sharing community involved in community development work all over the world. Of the 18 years I was with the ICA, about 5 was in Kenya and 6 was in India. I am a cofounder of NICA and have been on its board since it began 13 years ago. I also serve on the FIC board.
