at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage
It’s a special time at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage, as we’re celebrating twenty years of experimenting, learning, and growing as a thriving community near rural Rutledge, Missouri. As part of that celebration, our non-profit organization, the Center For Sustainable and Cooperative Culture, is offering a range of workshops to the public that reflect the depth and breadth of what we’ve learned and value about being in community. Check out what we’re offering below, and consider yourself invited to our learning celebration!
3rd Annual Permaculture Design Course
If you need a boost in the inspiration department, mixed in with practical real-life skills, this course is for you! For the third year in a row, Dancing Rabbit is teaming up with the very inspiring Bill Wilson of Midwest Permaculture for this intensive 9-day permaculture design course. You’ll learn to design and create sustainable human habitat — interconnected systems of food, water, shelter, and energy, as well as cooperative social and economic systems. As an added bonus, members of
Dancing Rabbit will teach sessions on how the ecovillage manifests “sustainable human habitat.”
In taking this course you’ll come away with a breadth of knowledge and resources, a permaculture design certificate, and a group of new “permie” friends. What better place to learn about permaculture than a village where it’s lived daily!
The next 5 people to register will save $300 off the regular price!
THRIVE: Inner Sustainability for Healers, Leaders, and Lovers of the Earth
At Dancing Rabbit we know that “inner sustainability” is an integral piece of creating a sustainable lifestyle and a sustainable world. In this powerful 3-day workshop, community friend and transformational coach, Laura Wolf, will guide you to explore tools for inner personal change so that you can effectively create outer change―on a community, organizational, or planetary level. Through breathwork, art, movement, and sharing exercises, this course will connect you with ways
to identify your stuck places, free up your inner energy, and create the changes you’ve been longing for.

Sustainable Living Visitor Program
Multiple two-week sessions
May through October
Are you exploring communities? Are you curious about what it’s actually like to live in an ecovillage? Our two-week Visitor Program provides a chance to immerse yourself in daily life at Dancing Rabbit. This experiential opportunity includes workshops on natural and green construction, renewable energy systems, alternative currency, our governance and decision-making systems, communication and conflict resolution, inner sustainability, and more. Joining “work parties” and helping out with building, gardening, food processing, cooking, and other daily tasks is also part of the experience, as well as eating meals with a variety of food/kitchen cooperatives. Since social time and fun are also part of our lives, plenty of relaxation time is built into the schedule.
Tours and connections with our neighboring communities, Red Earth Farms and Sandhill Farm are a bonus to our visitor program at Dancing Rabbit. And if you identify as female, we have a special “Women Only” visitor session, September 3-17, focusing on supporting women in their sustainable endeavors.
We invite you to explore our website to find out more about our many learning opportunities and ways to visit Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage in this, our 20th year, and on into the future.
