[Note Communities Conference at The Farm info follows this announcement.] The Fellowship for Intentional Community (FIC) invites you to the spring 2003 Organizational Meeting of our Board of Directors, staff, and volunteer workers. We offer you the opportunity to learn about the FIC, make new friends, network with other community-minded people, and participate in the consensus process. We hope you will join us for any or all of the FIC's four days of Organizational Meetings at The Farm. Come and participate in the conversations we hope to inspire about creating a world where community is a viable option. What's on our plate this spring? *Events -- It has been a while since our last Community Day (Earthaven in May 2001), and we'll hear plans for an FIC Event, perhaps as soon as this fall in Ohio. *Budget -- We never have trouble thinking up projects; the trick is finding the funding to make everything happen. We'll be taking a close look at the numbers. *Development -- We'll take a look at the pluses and minuses of our first year of serious fundraising, assessing our potential for ongoing financial support beyond sales of products and services. *Board selection -- This spring four board members' terms will be expiring. The Nominating Cmtee will present a slate of candidates for three-year terms. *Communities Directory -- Last fall we tackled the burning issue of the book's future, and agreed in principle to offer future Directories online, as well as in print. We committed to launching a capital campaign to establish an endowment, the interest from which can fund the labor needed to develop and maintain the communities database. We will hear a detailed proposal on how this will work, and how it will coordinate with our website development. Location, Fees & Registration: We will be hosted by The Farm in Summertown, TN. To learn more about The Farm visit their websites at http://www.thefarmcommunity.com/ http://www.thefarm.org/ The fee is $25/day. This includes meals and camping. First meal will be Wednesday breakfast. Indoor beds are available in their dormitory for an additional $15/day. Also, some spaces in private homes will be an option on a first come first served basis. The deadline for registration has passed but there may still be openings. Breaking Up (While Staying in Community), which suggests you donıt have to leave the community when you break up. With enough kindness and impartiality from your community, you can both heal and stay right where you are. Relationships in the Crucible, which describes a community relationship process which put people's hearts and souls on the line, publicly?and apparently worked well indeed. Lovers, Friends, and Parents, describing what happens at a community that puts together multiple intimate relationships, deep commitment to children and shared parenting, and dedication to honesty and vulnerability. In the fall we'll be presenting an issue with the theme Right Livelihood in Community.
