It has sold well and seems to fill a real need. There is a growing interest in ecological building and I have talked to several people who have logged many hours online in search of workshops and courses. This book puts this information into a well- organized format that is very user-friendly. Ecological Design and Building Schools offers a comprehensive list of workshops and schools, from hands-on cob building weekends to more formal college and university courses. The comparisons of curriculums, learning environments, and sustainability norms are particularly useful and the school profiles are very inspiring (for example, the Ecovillage Training Center at the Farm, a community in Tennessee). There are also listings of individuals offering courses. The book contains excellent background material about the growth of the natural building movement that provides context for the training opportunities available. I highly recommend this title for those wanting to educate themselves about the various building techniques, whether their interest is general, they are an individual owner-builder, building a community or seeking professional certification. It is also an excellent resource for those teaching in this field. Price $20.00 Special Price $16.00 ---------- GREAT MEETINGS! You're right! This year the FIC served up fresh and tasty community fare to more people than ever before. In the past we could offer only our print directory to those looking for a community home, or to communities hoping to attract new members. Now, the number of communities listed in our searchable online database continues to grow, meaning better information that's accessible to more of our audience. Even the media seems to be noticing our communities more lately. We've been offering a more appealing menu by adding interactive maps to our online database, streamlining our print Communities Directory, and upgrading the relevance and appearance of Communities magazine. You, our friends and supporters, have responded by purchasing our products and joining our nonprofit. This in turn helps cover the costs of providing our products and services. What are you bringing to the table now? Please consider making a donation to FIC today--or joining us as a member. The more the merrier!
