A Unique Fellowship Sponsored Conference
Gathering
September 21-23, 2012 | Occidental,
California
Hosted once again in the beautiful coastal
redwoods of Occidental, CA, Art of Community offers a wealth of
opportunities for building and practicing skills of cooperative culture,
for people and organizations to share ideas and knowledge about creating
and living in intentional communities, and to immerse oneself in the
concept of living "with intention for community" wherever one calls
home.
Central to this year's A of C vision is
Inspiring People
to Purposefully Engage in Place-Making. Featured
speaker
Mark Lakeman of City Repair Project in Portland, Oregon will
share
wisdom and stories about his involvement in strengthening
sense of
community via projects which connect people to place. For 15
years
City Repair has worked to transform neighborhoods in
accordance with
locally cultivated visions of creativity, community, and
sustainability.
Talented facilitators offer workshops in:
- Conflict Resolution
- Decision-making Models
- Social permaculture
- Cooperative Land Ownership
- Ecovillage Planning
- Regional Community
Organizing
...and there's much more. For seasoned
communitarians —you
have space to share your pearls of wisdom and find out how
others
living in community have weathered challenges you may be
facing. Casual
and facilitated networking sessions create space where
community minded
folks can celebrate and connect around their shared values,
strengthen
collaborative connections, and strategize for growing the
Communities
Movement.
Check out our website for info on post-weekend
special program
days of workshop intensives and a gathering to
discuss what
it means to call these shared concepts about community a
"Movement".
We'll focus on questions such as- How we can together affect
social
change? How do we organize to strengthen the web of
community oriented
networks that focus on creating a more cooperative
culture?
The FIC celebrates its 25th anniversary this
year—
we have a history of bringing people together in a vibrant
exchange
of information and inspiration. Together, we are making a
difference...!
