We'Moon
2012 Datebook: Chrysalis
by Mother Tongue Ink
Spiral
Bound Softcover;
2012; 240 pages
"We'Moon" is a contraction
of "we of
the moon" and calls itself "the original womyn's
calendar" and a "handbook of natural cycles." Each year,
the calendar
has a theme that is inspired by the social atmosphere of the
times, the
astrological significance of the year and the themes bubbling up
in the
women's culture which births the project every year. This year's
theme
of Chrysalis explores "the transformative moment, invoking
radical trust
for times of deep change."
The calendar also runs on several tracks at once: each week is
laid out
like a typical calendar, but it is interspersed with
comprehensive astrological
information as well as the holy days of equinoxes, solstices and
the cross-quarters.
With interesting historical bits and poetry connecting to these
natural
cycles, the calendar does a great job of connecting users to
these larger
rhythms, while helping us keep our mundane activities
organized.
From the vibrant cover art to the final pages with space for
your own
notes (each with a tiny work of art printed on it) this year's
annual
homage to women's creativity is especially rich. Having our own
activities
side by side with snippets about what radical women around the
world are
doing to create a more sustainable and connected world
encourages us to
reach higher and do better, and are a tribute to the strength
and creativity
of women across cultures.
This is an ideal gift for those active, strong women in your
life!
