Intentional Communities Newsletter: December 30, 2010
Promoting Community Living & Cooperative Lifestyles Communities magazine, Directory, Video, and more
We hope 2010 was a wonderful year for you and that you found yourself
with a stronger sense of community in your life. It's been quite a year
of promoting community for the FIC and we wanted to share some of the
highlights and make sure you didn't miss anything exciting.
New Communities Magazine Website
The year started with the roll out of the new Communities
magazine website. We've been posting free articles online for your
enjoyment—if you haven't seen it yet check it out. You'll find
articles from all four of our Communities issues this year: Family
, Education
for Sustainability, Power
and Empowerment, and the current issue, Elders.
New Logo and Graphic Design
2010 also saw a new look for our website plus a new logo that was many years in the works. We hope you are enjoying the new look and feel.
Communities Grow on Facebook
Our Facebook Cause now has over 4000 members—quadrupling this year. It's great to see how many community supporters there are out there. Join the Cause!
Community Directory Videos
We also began offering videos on our Communities Directory listings, and we now have over 125 videos on our site from 75 communities. You can find these videos on our site and you can share them with friends on YouTube.
Community Events
The FIC helped out at a number of community events throughout the year including the Cohousing Conference, Twin Oaks Communities Conference, and NASCO Institute. We also gathered for our twice-a-year organizational meeting in Portland, OR and Berlin, MA.
New print Communities Directory
Our
new edition of the Communities
Directory was released in November and is our best ever with more
communities and longer listings. We have a special price on the Directory
that expires Dec 31st so get
your copy today.
We still have a number of books on sale at our Community Bookshelf store. Check out our special prices on books on Ecovillages
, Transition Towns, Creating Community , and Consensus.
We hope you've enjoyed all we've done this year and it's helped you find more community in your life. The FIC gets by on sales of our products and donations from people like you who support our efforts at promoting community. If you haven't had a chance yet this year, consider joining as a member
or making a contribution.
Thanks for all you do to support the FIC and promote community.
PS And don't worry, 2011 is already shaping up to be another great year—stay
tuned for more exciting community videos, events, and new features on
our website.
