Sustainability through Community is the theme for this year's national conference hosted by the the Cohousing Association of the US, which will happen on the campus of the University of Colorado in Boulder, June 18-20, 2010.
There are already over 150 registered and there's still two months to go! The sustainability theme will be developed by four featured speakers:
- Bill McKibben, author of Deep Economy
- Dave Wann, author Reinventing Community and Superbia!
- Chuck Durrett, author of Cohousing, A Contemporary Approach to Housing Ourselves, and Senior Cohousing
- Katie McCamant, co-author with Chuck on Cohousing
All of these titles can be purchased through Community Bookshelf at http://store.ic.org.
In addition, there will be over 60 workshops on topics on everything from Getting the Work done to Poetry, Music, and Beer; from Retrofitting Toward Net-Zero Energy to Singing in Community.
In the two days leading up to the conference, people can enroll in "Coho-U," where five tracks of pre-conference study are offered:
- Developing Cohousing: Soup to Nuts and a Few Lessons Learned
- Growing Community: Head, Heart, and Hands
- Research and Writers Workshop
- Senior Cohousing
- Sustainability: Environmental + Economic + Cultural
FIC is a sponsoring organization and we will be running the conference bookstore and helping with the benefit auction happening Saturday evening.
There is a $100 discount if you register by May 31.
