Promoting Community Living & Cooperative Lifestyles
Communities magazine, Directory, Video and more

Special Fall Offers Announcement
Letter from Laird Schaub, FIC Executive Secretary

Dear Friend,

We're offering special deals through the end of October on our main products to help you get more community in your life: Communities magazine, Geoph Kozeny's Visions of Utopia video, and Communities Directory.

In these days of hunkering down economically, the FIC is ramping up cooperatively. Inquiries are stronger by 25% from a year ago, and the demand for information about community is surging. As dollars have become scarcer, the on-the-ground experience of intentional communities in doing more with less has never been more relevant.

Communities Magazine. Our redesigned quarterly has never looked better! The fall issue--released in early September--on the theme of Community in Hard Times. The winter issue will focus on Health and Well-Being. Nobody covers cooperative culture like we do. If you are not already subscribing, there could never be a better time. If you are, it's a terrific time to extend your subscription. Our regular subscription rate is $24 for one year (four issues, shipped to a US address).

Visions of Utopia. Volume Two of Geoph Kozeny's magnum opus was just released in April. This video is 124 minutes long and features profiles of 10 contemporary communities. It's the other bookend to Volume One (released in 2002), which provides an historic overview of intentional communities and profiles of seven other contemporary groups. Together, you can get a picture of the amazing breadth of the Communities Movement today, as members of each group tell their story in their own words. Our regular price for one video is $30 plus S/H.

Communities Directory. This is your key guide to what's going on today. Released in 2007, our current edition lists over 900 groups in North America. The Directory includes maps and a cross-reference chart sorting groups by the most commonly asked criteria—making it easy to find the communities that are organized around the values and practices that are most important to you. About three-quarters of our inquiries are for information about communities and this is the mother lode. The cover price is $30 and our regular price for the Directory is $24 plus S/H.

In cooperation,
Laird Schaub
