Community
An FIC Co-Sponsored Event | August 14-16, 2009
Twin Oaks Community near Louisa, Virginia

The Communities Conference is a networking and
learning opportunity for anyone interested or involved in cooperative or
communal lifestyles.
Join us for a weekend of sharing and
celebration!
With over 25 different communities represented, this conference is a prime
opportunity to network amongst other community-minded folks. It is an ideal
event for people who are looking for community, as well for those already
living in community, to share and learn from each others' experiences. We'll
be delving into the nuts and bolts of community with a variety of workshops
on topics such as Cooperative Decision-Making, Intentional Relationships,
Forming Community, Community Economics, and
many more. Children are welcome. The weekend includes a multitude of
networking and socializing opportunities, including "Meet the Communities",
swimming, and the mudpit. We look forward to seeing you there!

Farm
Register Now—Adults save $50 by registering before July 15.

Amidst the hills and hollows, tribes and councils new and old will gather to
share and collaborate finding ways to re-inhabit mother earth. This October 3-
11, 2009 hundreds of bioregionalists will gather at the Farm in
Summertown, TN for the 10th Continental Bioregional Congress. In the
ceremonial village of the congress, we will share and celebrate stories of
place, model the communities we wish to support and create, and organize for
ecological and cultural restoration. The congress
will pilot a bioregional certification curriculum – a toolbox of practices
focusing on building, sustaining and relocalizing communities; reinvigorating
culture and arts; and grassroots organizing for ecological restoration and
policy change.
Tune in to a radio call discussing the past, present and
future of the Bioregional movement on Monday July 13 at 1:30 EST by calling

Community Event in Mid-2010 -- Coordinator Job
Available
The FIC is currently planning to put on a large, 3 day community conference
in the San Francisco Bay area in May or June of 2010. We envision that this
conference will provide participants with a taste of the fruits of community,
useful tools to plant more seeds of community and sustainability wherever
they are, and the inspiration to tend the community garden through heat,
drought or flood. We are looking for a conference coordinator for this event, to
begin working with the FIC immediately on
planning, budgeting, and creating a cohesive core team. Compensation is
based on a profit-sharing model.
