Mission Statement:

sustainable living education

Community Description:

We are in the process of establishing a sustainable living education centre very close to Fredericton, where the Royal Road Equestrian Center used to be. Largely inspired and modelled on the Falls Brook Centre, it provide demonstration and training related to renewable energy technologies, sustainable and energy efficient architecture, energy efficiency techniques, and such sustainable agriculture techniques as permaculture. The ecovillage will integrate a housing and farming co-operative, allowing volunteers to live on-site, demonstrating a non-profit alternative to for-profit affordable housing, and demonstrating the sustainability of co-operative housing. The Borland Initiative, one of our long term goals, will be the use of the site for the rehabilitation of at-risk youth in such a way that they will receive help in creating a green sector career for themselves and a better world for all of us.
