The Foundation for Intentional Community is pleased to offer you the cream of our crop–the very best articles that have appeared over the last 20 years in our flagship publications: Communities magazine and Communities Directory.

We’ve distilled what we consider the most insightful and helpful articles on the topics that you–our readers–have told us you care about most, and have organized them into 15 collections. The first of these digital issues is about what intentional communities are and how to start one.

Volume I. Intentional Community Overview and Starting a Community

Many people yearn for community–for a greater sense of connection and belonging–yet genuinely wanting it and accurately knowing that it’s good for you are not enough to guarantee that you’ll be happy in intentional community, or that others will want to live with you.

These 15 articles in “Intentional Community Overview and Starting a Community” provide a peek behind the curtain at some the pitfalls and challenges facing community builders, so that you’ll have a more realistic idea of what it will take to survive your start-up years and actually become a home.

You’ll find first-hand stories from forming communities, as well as sage advice about legal structures, the importance of community spirit, and the importance of making process agreements before you need to apply them.

This digital issue includes articles on:

  • Myths about intentional community
  • What makes a community stick together
  • Essential “ingredients” for making a community from scratch
  • Tips on buying property for a new community
  • Models of legal structures in community
  • and so much more!

You can buy this volume of The Best of Communities collection for only $10!

Dear IC.org

I have recently been considering new directions for 2015 and I was wondering if you knew of a Nudist/Naturist Intentional Community or Private Reserve in the USA, which has an opening in a work/exchange capacity in farming, gardening, land clearing, livestock management, naturist educator, help building, equipment operation, general labor, possibly arts and crafts related cottage industry work exchange assistance capacities on the IC, as well as work exchange related to my skills outlined on my linkedin profile?

My short -term and long-term goals are to establish or help to further establish a Naturist, Nudist Intentional Community Trust or Private Reserve Trust, which enables heterosexual Naturist, Nudist to live, coexist in a monogamous normal moral, ethical, wholesome manner without the issues, concerns or unusual pressures related to sexual immorality. i.e. Simply Stated: Clean normal moral and ethical Nudist, Naturist Intentional Community or Private Reserve based living and coexisting.
