As you can see from the photos the land here at Living Well is absolutely beautiful with its gentle slopes, mix of trees and cascading river borders. We have heard that the last residents on the land were Native Americans and its not uncommon to report experiences describing the land’s peacefulness or its strong energy. The existing rail trail that runs along the Deep River is open to all throughout the year and is thoughtfully being developed to connect the towns of Ramseur, downtown Franklinville and eventually all the way to Randleman. Fifty three of the 124 acres is designated as a perpetual easement remaining undeveloped so the natural setting, wild edibles and abundant birdlife can be appreciated by all.

The lots for sale vary in size and function for the Community. The larger ones are mixed-use lots zoned commercial/residential. Not only do they permit a footprint for a larger energy efficient house but can also support an in home business. The smaller “patio home” lots are intended for a house smaller than 1000 square feet with lower costs and easier yard maintenance. Currently we have six homes with eight residents and three more houses in different stages of completion. Nine other active members, some of whom own lots, add to the diverse mix of interests, skills and life experience that make up the people of Living Well.

Before the Piedmont of North Carolina with the mountains to the west and the Outer Banks to the east called and became our new home we hailed from states like Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and Florida. In addition to committee meetings and our monthly potluck and business meeting some other ways we connect with each other have been: pizza parties at the cob oven in our neighborhood park; the labor of love in the Community garden; “swarming” as a group onto a member’s property and working together to establish their kitchen garden; outreach in town, the elementary school and volunteering at the Fall festival; shared meals, meditation, music and much more. The glue that provides cohesiveness to Living Well and shapes our vision for the future would be our four core values. Our goal is to create a sustainable lifestyle focusing on wellness of body, mind and spirit, honoring the sacred while serving the greater good.

We would be happy to meet with you and walk the land, introduce you to some neighbors and share some of the reasons why we call Living Well “home”.
